Artists

Grandi & Fanti

Grandi & Fanti are a band from Riomaggiore (Cinque Terre) that plays in local dialect. As their name suggests, band members are mostly young people (“fanti”): Irene Somovigo (voice), Luca Scapin (bouzouki), Leonardo Franceschetti (guitar), Lorenzo Beschi (electric guitar) and Marco Curti (drums). The band’s “grandi” (adults) are Francesco Buttà (voice) and Enrico Bonanini (voice, bouzouki and bass guitar). All the band’s original songs were written in the local dialect of Ligurian language. The band’s name refers to the different ages of its members, but also to the need, for musicians and poets, to preserve the spirit of youth in themselves. They draw musical inspiration from the Mediterranean sounds that Fabrizio De André and Mauro Pagani put at the core of their masterpiece album "Crêuza de mä”. That is why the band’s instruments include the bouzouki, which is not played with the Greek tuning but with its strings free, just as the Genoese singer-songwriter did. Grandi & Fanti received several awards, twice winning the San Giorgio Festival of Ligurian Language Song, held every year in Albenga.

Orchestra dei Ragazzi della Scuola di Musica di Fiesole

The orchestra of the students of Fiesole Music School includes some very young members. The discipline of making music together - which is at the heart of the learning method guiding this ensemble - is conducive to a proper development, not only as artists but also as humans. The Orchestra dei Ragazzi has repeatedly represented our country in Spain, Germany and France. Every year, together with the Galilei Orchestra and the Italian Juvenile Orchestra, it offers a musical greeting to the city of Florence on New Year’s morning. Luciano Berio invited it to attend the inauguration of the new “Parco della Musica” Auditorium in Rome, on 21 April 2002; Salvatore Accardo conducted it on occasion of the orchestra’s 30th anniversary (2004) at Palazzo Vecchio, also participating as soloist; again with Maestro Accardo, the orchestra had the honour to inaugurate, with great success, the 2011-2012 season of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana. It was recently awarded the Galileo 2000 prize - Pentagramma d'oro Una vita per la musica. In 2016, the Orchestra dei Ragazzi gave a concert at Vienna’s Musikverein, winning the World Orchestra Festival, organised by the Wiener Philharmoniker in the Austrian capital. Its current conductor-teacher is Edoardo Rosadini. The Orchestra performs its activities thanks to the support of Fondazione CR Firenze.
