Park Community

The Park Community is an advisory body of the Park Authority fulfilling the following functions:

  • a) appointing, with recorded vote, five representatives for the creation of the Governing Council of the Park Authority, and presenting them to the Ministry of Environment: the nomination of the representatives is carried out according to the expressions of vote provided for in the Annex A by the clause 2, letter d) of the article 24 of the present statute, with vote limited to three names;
  • b) ruling on all the acts and matters the Park Community is responsible of, according to the voting modalities and expressions provided for by the Annex A, comma 2 letter d) of the article 24 of the present statute, in particular:
    • upon prior expression of justified assessment of the economic and social multi-year Plan by the Governing Council of the Park Authority, monitoring its implementation,
    • it expresses compulsory opinion about the budget and the costing of the Park Authority, about the Park regulation, about the Park's Plan and other issues asked by at least one third of the members of the Park Authority's Governing Council,
    • it participates, according to the article 12, comma 3 of the Law 394/91, in the definition of the criteria expressed by the Governing Council regarding the preparation of the Park's Plan,
    • it expresses compulsory opinion on the statute of the Park Authority and on the possible revisions,
      it adopts its own rules of procedure, that are submitted to the approval of the Park Authority's Governing Council.
When expressing their vote in the Park Community, each member represents the common interests of the Park Authority they belong to within the community itself, depending on the population residing in the Park area (considering the data until December 31st, 1998), assigning to this parameter the value of 75%, and depending on the territory included in the Park area assigning to this parameter the value of 25%. To calculate the real allocation and incidence of the 75% and 25%.

The Park Community elects a President and a Vice-President, and the President, one third of the community's members or the Park Authority's President can call an assembly at least twice a year.

Cinque Terre National Park's Community Members:

  • Mayor of Monterosso or one of his delegates
  • Mayor of Vernazza or one of his delegates
  • Mayor of Riomaggiore or one of his delegates
  • Mayor of Levanto or one of his delegates
  • Mayor of La Spezia or one of his delegates
  • President of the Province of La Spezia or one of his delegates
  • President of the Region Liguria or one of his delegates

As President of the Park Community has been appointed Emanuele Moggia, Mayor of Monterosso
