506 (former no. 6) Manarola - Fork no. 1 (Sella di Monte Marvede)

The trail sets off from the village of Manarola and continues uphill on the right side of the Groppo stream, before reaching the place called Piè di Fiesse, starting point of trails 502 and 506V. Then, after sharing a few meters with the provincial road SP 51 towards the hamlet of Groppo, the trail continues off road climbing to the left, and passing through olive groves where a small tabernacle dedicated to Saint Michael can be spotted along the path. After reaching the village of Volastra the trail crosses again the provincial road SP 51, and keeps ascending along the last stretch of the paved road Via dei Santuari (trail 530). Then a narrow path on the left, running along an olive grove, leads to the junction with the secondary route 506V from Groppo.

Proceeding along the trail, nearby the site called Case Bovera, the cultivated terraces are replaced by woods. From this point on, trail 585 separates, while 506 keeps going upward trough the woods until it reaches the southeastern pass of Sella Monte Marvede (Piana di Corniglia), where it meets the AV5T. The track continues, past the ridge, beyond the Park's boundary down to the village of Casella.

  • Plants: Wood of chestnut trees, pinewood of maritime pines, Mediterranean scrub, cultivated fields 
  • Ethnographical evidence: Tabernacle of St Michael, shrine of Madonna del Piaggio 
  • Services and shops: Manarola, Volastra
  • Points of water: fountain near the intersection between 502 and 506V, fountain in Volastra
