The Cinque Terre National Park, together with Bicincittà Italia, offers tourists the new automated e-bike rental service that allows them to combine the discovery of a unique landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the low-impact freedom of movement that only bicycles can offer.
Cinque Terre Bike Sharing is the new service available both to residents and tourists with 30 pedal-assist bicycles and 10 classic mountain bikes located in the five pick-up and drop-off stations scattered throughout the villages and hamlets of the Cinque Terre.
Renting bikes is quick and easy through the Weelo - We Love Bikes app: you just need to register and top up your wallet with a credit card. The app, also available in English, displays the map with the location of the stations, the bikes available in real time, the credit for the rental and offers customer care and reporting. Each rental costs 3 euros per hour for the first hour or fraction and 2 euros for subsequent hours and fractions.
The exchange points are equipped with charging stations, signage, lighting and video surveillance, and allow easy connection between the villages and points of natural and historical interest in the Park. There will also be virtual stations entrusted to local operators (accommodation and catering facilities, farms), willing to offer the service to their customers and employees.
To foster greener and longer stays in the territory, guests of the accommodation facilities with the Park's Environmental Quality Label, as part of the certification process under the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, can benefit from a 5 euro discount on the rental service.
IMPORTANT: In addition to the vehicle accessible roads, you can access the paths indicated in the Park's paths app only, so as to preserve the other hiking routes characterised by dry stone walls and stone steps, that can only be tackled on foot: the stretches can be found on the Park's paths web app at the link mappe.parconazionale5terre.it
The project was developed by the Park within the framework of the Parchi per il Clima (Parks for the Climate) call for proposal, developed by the Italian Ministry for the Environment, to support climate change mitigation and adaptation in the protected areas.
