Please note that the last stretch, from the village to the cliff, remains closed to the traffic until 31 December 2022 (Decree no. 12613 dated 14/05/2022)
The trail sets off along trail 504 at the approximate height of 417 meters a.s.l., near a group of scattered houses. Descending easily down a cobbled muletrack, it meets trail 535 from Campiglia, with wich shares a stretch of about 250 meters on a gentle slope through vineyards. At about 259 meters a.s.l. the trails divide, and trail 536 keeps climbing down a stairway toward the hamlet of Monesteroli.
Monesteroli stairway (Street View )
The descent is extremely steep (although well-kept), with some 100% grade spots, this makes the path astonishingly panoramic, but those who suffer from vertigo are advised against this hike. Before arriving at Monesteroli, a tabernacle dedicated to Saint Pantaleon can be spotted along the trail. From the small village, without a church, you can descend to the sea in two ways: the first goes through a private property, and leads near the mountain cliff, at the exit of the Buggi tunnel; the other, today difficult to walk through due to small landslides, needs to descend to the left after the last building.
